Why Do I Need Home Security?

Home security is important to protect your property as well as the safety of your household. You need to take some considerations when finding a home security system. You may find it tough to get a home security system due to the numerous choices you have. Home security has different types including outdoor, indoor or both, wireless, wired, unmonitored or monitored. There are various monitoring stations for windows and doors. Home security also includes radon, fire and smoke detector.

According to surveys, most people have security system in their cars rather than their homes. However, homes must be secured at all times because it is a bigger investment than cars. It does not matter whether you own a mansion or a simple bungalow. You need to protect your property as much as possible.

It is important to determine your needs before selecting a home security system. Take time in considering three main factors including your budget, the security company’s credibility and your security requirements.

You can get a security expert to inspect your home to know what kind of home security you need. A security expert can give you advice and ideas about important areas that require protection. You will be able to know the problem spots in your home as well as the type of home security and the number of motion sensors, contact sensors and video cameras are needed.

You can consider installing a central monitoring system or stand-alone security system. This kind of security system is necessary if you are living in an isolated area and you are away all the time.

Home security?

We live in Australia. You arent allowed to keep guns for protection. recently we had in our suburb a home invasion with a machete and sawn off shotgun. they havent caught the people. We have an alarm system but cant use it because of the cats. I get a bit scared sometimes because I feel we don't have enough security if someone came with a gun. We are thinking of installing a sensor light but are there any other suggestions to make your home safer?

Motion sensor lighting is a good start. Why can't you use your alarm system with the cats? If it is a motion reason, motion sensors can be programmed to ignore movement up to a certain size (my security system ignores my two 35 lbs dogs).

A dog would help as well. Also, make your home uninviting to robbers, including planting spiney bushes right under your windows, don't advertise your home to robbers by leaving curtains open or valuables out, remove spare keys if left outside the house (under a mat, in a fake rock).

A creative idea would to glue a fake Sydney Funnel Web to each window. That should make them think twice about going in that way.
